Die Performerin und Autorin Sarah Vanhee berichtete von Erfahrungen aus ihren Projekten, mit denen sie sich, häufig an theaterfremden Orten, an Menschen außerhalb des üblichen Theaterpublikums richtet. Ihre Arbeiten beschäftigen sich mit Identität, Sprache und gesellschaftlichen Strukturen. Ihre meist gezeigte Performance ist „Lecture For Every One“, eine Intervention, mit der sie mehr als 300 Mal die Teilnehmer*innen von Versammlungen oder Sitzungen in Firmen, Vereinen oder Organisationen überraschte. Darin reflektiert Sarah Vanhee, wie Gemeinschaft entsteht und wie wir Zusammenleben gestalten.
In Gent richtete sie abschließend an die Teilnehmer*innen der Konferenz die folgenden Fragen:
„How much time would you spend in your theatre or art space if you would not have to be there for your work?
How much do you feel at home there?
Do you feel at ease there?
Who feels at ease, who doesn’t feel at ease?
Would you come there at all if it was not for job?
Who would you like to meet there?
Is there a place to change diapers?
Is there laughter to be heard at the place where you work?
Do you hear singing?
How is the space being used, when there is no public program?
How would you describe the language or languages being used there?
Is there a fear of using the wrong words?
Is there a fear of being dressed in the wrong way?
Do people sometimes hug each other? Give each other compliments?
Who owns the place?
Who cares for the place? Who cares for the people working there, coming there?
What are the unwritten laws, the unspoken codes in your place?
How important is the new?
How important is the master?
What do you make possible?
What change do you make?“
